Blu-ray
Blu-ray, popularly known as BD or blue-ray is the next generation optical disc which has been developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA). The group consists of the giants of consumer electronics in the foreground PC makers and the media, like Philips, Samsung, Sony, Sharp, HP, Hitachi and Panasonic, to name a few. The format enables recording, rewriting and playback of HD video (HD). One of the main advantages that technology has over conventional DVDs is that it allows a greater capacity storage. You can store up to 25GB on a single layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc. The technology also incorporates advanced video and audio codes for the ultimate viewing experience high definition. The name Blu-ray is used because the format uses a blue-violet laser instead of a laser red, as in the case of a conventional DVD.
Another great advantage Blu-ray is the fact that the technology is compatible. Now you can play your old CDs and DVDs through a BD DVD / CD compatible. Some of the famous titles include movies such as Desperado, Fantastic Four, Hero, Kill Bill and Lethal Weapon. Sony came out with a mass production model, which has already reached the market. Several other brands have also announced their intention to launch models with the Blu-ray.
The Blu-ray movie codes are different those of DVD region codes. As you North America, South America, Japan and Asia excluding China forming Region 1, followed by Europe and Africa, which are region 2. China, India and Russia make up Region 3.
A major disadvantage with Blu-ray is that many DVD players can not read discs. This is being rectified, as readers compatible with earlier versions though. The growth of Blu-ray should growth segments of home entertainment to unprecedented heights again.
Advanced Optical Disc
However, another technology, or format to be precise, giving the Blu-ray a good run for their money, is the leading optical disc (AOD) format. It has been developed by Toshiba in collaboration with NEC. Even if it is considered the main rival Blu-ray, ironically, supported by the DVD Forum, which comprises nine members Â'Blu who are founders. Well, if You Just connect the audio from Blu-Ray to the receiver input, of course, speakers existing work. Who will work with any audio source, but you may need to change the settings of the output to play something like the stereo properly.
