Is the cinema still relevant?

Last night, I saw The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and thought. 2Meh, OK film but it really didn’t merit a 10 quid seat in the cinema.” Nowadays with a simple home cinema, you can invite your best 6 or 8 friends over or just your partner to have fantastic experience for losely 95% of all the films out there. The other 5% would be films like Avatar or Matrix which for high brows and Sci-Fi non-enthusiasts who disqualify such films on the basis of plot, aren’t even relevant. So, is cinema still relevant?

I agree with what you say, but for people it is the experience with friends, gf’s, etc and high quality with a big screen. It is like going to a restaurant when you have food at home.
But I agree.
